At our heart, we were Allied Health Business owners, but that's not what our titles read now, and that's not where we started. What feels like only yesterday, we were two fresh-faced new graduates. Filled to the brim with the drive to prove ourselves, to be great, to help improve the life of every person who came into our care. And that's what we did. We put ourselves out there despite the little voice that makes you doubt if you've got what it takes. We worked hard and built our own local reputations. As our patients made amazing changes and we saw the impact we could have on the lives of others, it fed the fire to be bigger, better, and have more impact on the people around us.
All of the excitement of the good stories we were hearing from our patients was balanced by the stories of how often they were let down by their care providers. They told us of poor care, lack of attention, and the lazy practices that they had endured. A sense of responsibility started to grow within us, if we could make a difference, why wasn't everyone? These were not just patients to us, they were people, people who needed help, needed simply to be listened to and supported.
So the fire burned strong as individually we tried to take on the allied health world. We thought if we were good enough, helped enough people, eventually, our businesses would grow and we would be able to make a real impact on the world. Prepare yourself, this might not be the happy ending you were expecting to read.
It was hard, referrals would come and go, if you were doing well, the urge to add more staff, upgrade your space or rebrand your website was strong. Bigger business often means bigger costs and more hats for you to wear, not bigger profits and greater impact. New, bigger and more powerful providers pop up, making you work harder to keep your name on top of the pile. COVID threw us all into a spin, and for those who survived 2020 in business, the challenges just kept coming.
GP's are busy, when an allied health business pops up that has all of the services the patients need in one place, it makes sense for them to send the referral that way. How can they possibly keep up with who's who and who's better in the extremely diverse health space? The passion that feeds the small fish, might not be enough to keep him alive.
So we learned a lot of lessons and brought our heads together. Maybe there is a way to even the playing field. A way to boost the best providers and balance the needs of the referrers. Metacare Australia was born. And what an arrival it was. The biggest Allied Health provider in the country. A collective of small, brilliant fish, in a display worthy of an Attenborough documentary.
We solved the challenge the GP's are facing, no longer do they need to spend their time, learning the who's who, keeping up with what providers are connected to what companies. Googling fax numbers and navigating specialties. They have one referral hub, a place they can trust, that supports the coordination of quality care for their patients.

Sounds great, but how do you stay on top of that list? remember in the beginning, when I told you, we are just like you. The people you are helping are not just referral numbers, they are people, people just like our mothers and brothers and grandfathers. All they want is to be heard and supported. So that's what we will do, providers who are not listening and not supporting their patients will sink to the bottom, allowing those whom the patients support, rise to the top.
Patients are heard, the great practitioners get the access they deserve and the referrers get the peace of mind they need. It's a new allied health world. Welcome to Metacare Australia.
